Meet our newest team member

We are thrilled to introduce the latest addition to our MIMO Connect family. With a unique blend of maritime passion and technical expertise, our new team member brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our innovative company.

Meet Michaun Pierre.

Can you tell us a little about your background/studies and what brought you to MIMO Connect?

Growing up, I always enjoyed my experiences out on the water. This motivated me to pursue my captain's license and other maritime credentials a few years ago, aiming to enter the maritime industry. Professionally, I studied computer science at university and have several years of experience in software development and computer systems support. This combination of skills led me to discover the critical communications and connectivity needs of vessels, blending my maritime interests with my technical background. Through this journey, I met Nicci and learned about MIMO Connect's vision to bring global connectivity to the maritime industry and beyond. When the opportunity arose to join MIMO, I was immediately excited about becoming part of the team.

What excites you the most about joining the MIMO Connect team?

I am most excited about being part of an innovative company that is constantly pushing the boundaries in its industry. I am eager to support new initiatives aimed at providing higher quality connectivity to both current and future customers. With MIMO poised for significant growth, I am thrilled to be part of this exciting journey.

What are some of your goals or aspirations in your new role?

One of my primary goals is to enhance our technical support work stream. I aspire to increase visibility into real-time usage of our connectivity services for our customers, ensuring that we provide the best possible support.

How do you see your role contributing to the overall success of MIMO Connect?

I believe my role will significantly contribute to MIMO's success by providing the necessary technical support as we expand our customer base. I also admire MIMO's constant drive for innovation, especially given our relatively small team size, which sets us apart from other companies in the industry.

What do you think sets MIMO Connect apart from other companies in the industry?

MIMO's desire and action to constantly innovate, especially considering our relatively small team size, is what sets us apart from other companies in the industry.

What has been your biggest inspiration in your career so far?

Seeing projects successfully executed from idea to completion has been a major inspiration in my career. I find it powerful and motivating to witness the evolution of ideas and how others navigate challenges successfully.

What skills or experiences do you bring to the team that you think will be particularly valuable?

With a background in software development, I am confident that my skills will be beneficial for MIMO's upcoming goals. My persistence in searching for solutions will be invaluable as we seek to enhance our technical support services.

How do you like to approach problem-solving and challenges in your work?

When faced with challenges, I focus on the "why" and "what" of my tasks. Keeping the purpose and goal in mind helps me work backwards from these end states, often generating new ideas for how to achieve them.

What are you most looking forward to achieving with MIMO Connect in the next year?

I am looking forward to helping MIMO reach new levels of support and operations while gaining more domain knowledge in the communications industry.

What is your favourite food to eat?

I love eating fruit salad because something about fresh fruit fills me with life.

Do you have a favourite quote or life mantra?

No, not yet. Maybe I will when I get older and hopefully wiser.

Can you share a fun fact about yourself or a hobby you enjoy outside of work?

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy singing and have even performed as a singer at Disney World. This creative outlet adds another layer to my dynamic personality.

If you could be any animal, what would it be and why?

If I could be any land animal, I would choose a panther for its sleek and majestic nature. In the sea, I would be an octopus, fascinated by its intelligence and ability to explore ocean mysteries.

If you could offer a piece of advice to young women aspiring to have a career in maritime, what would you say?

My advice for anyone looking to enter the maritime industry is to identify and emphasize transferable skills and experiences that will be useful. Patience and persistence are key when searching for opportunities in this field.

I am excited to be part of such a talented and passionate team at MIMO Connect.

Thank you for welcoming me aboard!
