The journey behind the MIMO GO Case

At MIMO Connect, innovation is at the heart of what we do. The MIMO GO Case is a testament to our commitment to enhancing connectivity for yacht owners and guests, even when they're far from the vessel. This revolutionary product was born from discussions with our ETO network, who expressed a need for better connectivity solutions. The launch of Starlink's mini panels provided the perfect opportunity to develop a portable solution that combines satellite and cellular connectivity.

Developing the MIMO GO Case was not without its challenges. One significant hurdle was engineering the batteries and their cradles with individual dead switches. This design allows the case to be powered by any or all batteries in parallel without exposing live connectors. Our team meticulously hand-tooled and installed a dead switch to each cradle, enabling full capacity operation and safe, simultaneous recharging.

One of the standout features of the MIMO GO Case is its ease of use in remote locations. We tested one prototype in Antarctica, where it provided reliable internet connectivity for a yacht exploring icebergs. During our product launch, we made a case-to-case video call with this yacht while it was in Chile, showcasing the clarity and speed of the connection. This moment was truly revolutionary and demonstrated the product's potential.

Every new product development journey comes with moments of doubt. However, our history of pioneering internet connectivity solutions, like the M Dome series, gave us the confidence to push forward. Our previous success with cellular 4G/5G and satellite signal aggregation in 2021 set a strong foundation for the MIMO GO Case.

Looking ahead, we have exciting expansion plans for the MIMO GO Case. We envision it being used in various applications, both on and off the water. Potential uses include being part of a yacht's 'abandon ship' protocols, medical emergency packs, and remote technical support services using VR technology. There's also a growing market in emergency services where the MIMO GO Case fits perfectly.

The MIMO GO Case can provide internet access almost anywhere. It could bring connectivity to regions in Africa with limited power and no established network cables or be used by day boats that don't require permanent connectivity.

Our goal is for the MIMO GO Case to become a standard piece of equipment on yachts of all sizes. Supporting good causes is part of our ethos, and we've already donated our first case to Sea Shepherd. We plan to donate one case for every hundred sold, with a goal of giving away five cases in the next three years.

The journey of creating the MIMO GO Case has been filled with challenges and triumphs. We're proud of what we've achieved and excited about the future possibilities. At MIMO Connect, we're committed to pushing the boundaries of connectivity and making a positive impact on the world.
